· Regular assistance from the contractual faculty members for specific classes and courses have been the added strength of the department. The teachers who have been regularly assisting us on contractual posts are Mrinmoy Bhattacharjee and Miss Jhuma Mishra.
· We have a well-furnished departmental library with a collection of good number of reference books to supplement the Central Library for students of TDC Major and General Classes. The department also enriches its journal section by subscribing for Yojna and Economic & Political Weekly in the Central Library of the College. The copies of journals subscribed by individual faculty members are also donated to by them to the departmental library for immediate reference. Annual reports from different national and international agencies are also subscribed. The Department has been publishing Departmental Journal “IMPETUS” with ISSN 2319 5290 to cover the write-ups of the students, faculty members and the scholars from neighbouring institution. Three volumes of the same has been published till date and the fourth volume is ready for publication. It is a trial to develop research and writing habit among the students and teachers.
· Though Economics department does not have its separate computer laboratory, but the centralized computer lab of the College is regularly used by the department for pursuing the course. Almost 17 computers installed in the centralized computer lab with well-furnished LAN and internet facilities are regularly used by the students during various course works.
· The Department is promoting research work through its Centre for Regional Economic Studies (CRES). The collaborative efforts of the faculty members of the department and some faculty members from other departments of humanities have promoted the research work, particularly when they became the research guide under various universities of distance learning like Perriyar University, Vinayak Mission University, Madurai Kamraj University and Singhania University. The department also gives a little exposure to the constraints of field survey to the students of TDC (Major) classes by organizing survey work under the banner of CRES.
· The department organizes student-centered seminars for the students in general and the students of Economics in particular. Class-wise seminar for Major students is organized during the class hours and one centralized seminar is held every year under the banner of CRES for participation of students in general from this college and also from the neighbouring colleges to inculcate competence among the students.
· Faculty members of the departments are always available for personal guidance to the students. They do not only provide academic counseling on curricula, but also extend personal and career counseling for their future prospects after graduation. Some faculty members of the department are actively involved in research guidance to the scholars enrolled for M. Phil. And Ph.D. under different universities. Centre for Regional Economic Studies (CRES) is running in the college under the patronage of our department for promoting various research works on regional issues. Apart from organizing tutorial and remedial coaching and need-based classes to the weaker students, the faculty members also extends counseling to the learners enrolled in various programmes of IGNOU and IDOL. Interdisciplinary classes are also organized by the department and the teachers of the department also teach the students of BBA and BMC programmes.
