The graceful Department of English of Bongaigaon College has been there since the inception of the college in 1964. The founding Head of the Department was Dr. B. N. Lahiri. The Department got a new feather in its cap when the Post Graduate course was introduced in 1991 under the auspices of the Principal S. C. Chakrabarty and the teachers such as Mr. R. B. Sharma, Dr. B. N. Lahiri, Mr. S. K. Roy, Dr. B. Beuria, Dr. Krishna Baruah and the like. There has been a departmental journal titled Review of English Studies. The Department offers courses in H.S (Arts & Commerce), B.A Honours, B.A / B. Com (General) as well as P.G (English). The intake capacity of the P.G course is fifty. The result of the Department has been consistently good. The Department aims towards achieving constant excellence.
