BONGAIGAON COLLEGE IDOL STUDY CENTRE :
Many students who aspire for higher education may not find a place in the conventional system of higher education due to limited number of seats. To ensure the opportunity to pursue higher education to the students who could not enroll in the conventional system of higher education due to various reasons, Bongaigaon College has served as Contact Centre for distance learning of Gauhati University since the inception of the Post Graduate Correspondence School (PGCS) since 2003. The School has been renamed as Institute of Open and Distance Learning from (IDOL) after 2008 after entering into the MOU with IGNOU for introducing convergence of distance learning with conventional classroom education. Subsequently, the Centre has been converted to full-fledged study centre since 2013 when some subjects of Master Programme have brought under semester system. Since its inception in 2013, Bongaigaion College IDOL Study Centre has been organizing counselling classes on every Sunday for students. Mention may be made that the introduction of Study Centre in our college has helped the dropout students to enroll in the TDC and MA/M.Com classes for their further course study. A good number of students of this area have got the opportunity of pursuing higher education under Gauhati University without any break for parallel counselling classes by the existing faculty members of the College. Bongaigaon College has also been serving as Examination Centre for the University in organizing various examinations of M.A. / M.Com. classes and also organizing practical classes and examination of Education Psychology with well managed practical lab of education department. The centre also organize MCQ-based internal evaluation test for the students in each semester by using the question booklets and OMR sheets supplied by the University. Apart from Master programme in humanities, language and commerce, the Centre also has been providing classes for various post graduate diploma courses like-PGDCA, MCJ, PGDHRM, PGDFM etc. It is worth mentioning that after the introduction of Semester System in TDC programme, the Study Centre also enrolled students for TDC programme with the motive of maintaining regular classes of manageable strength and sufficient counseling session and internal evaluation since 2014. The perseverance of Study Centre, Bongaigaon College in increasing the enrollment strength has been a continuous process till date.
